Wow, I didn't know this year's the 100th year since the first existence of Scouts, where Lord Baden Powell first started it, until I read my neighbour Kim Chew's blog.

I shall give my honour to him, such a wonderful man, who made history. Because of his idea to start a movement for youthful boys after his service to the military so that they can learn all sorts of skills, made many of us who we are today.

Scouts is the only thing I actually miss in high school. It was one of the best times of my life. I enjoyed every single bit of it. The tireless nights, the terrible camps which gave me no sleep for 3 days, the days when I was chef for like 50 over people, and we always estimated wrongly that I had to eat plain bread for almost every single meal for 3 days! The campfire days where we had to take months to prepare, all the minutes we had to prepare for meetings, every single little detail. The days where I have to beg my mum to allow me to participate in almost every possible thing and so much more. Experiences like these are the ones which build a person up.

Highlights of my scouting career at 10th PJ Troop Scouts of SMK Sultan Abdul Samad:
2000- Quit Japanese class at school to join Scouts 3 quarter way through of Form 1.

2001- Finally officially a scout, after the Tenderfoot exams. Made Assistant Patrol Leader of Kenyalang, assisting Jia Wei. (Gosh... Those were the days when I had such a shy and quiet leader! And look how he is today... So different! Hahaha) My first campfire at school - had to do decorations, and we did a dance called Reach by S Club 7! Omgosh... I really loved it. Everyone loved it! The crowd were so participative, and we were all so serious abt it, yet we had so much fun. My partner was Hon Wai, I still remember. Hahahha :) Also, we did this Magazine and published 250 copies? And I was the Secretary. Can't really remember. Oh no... Hahhaa. My first Patrol Camp at Templer's Park. :)

2002- Stepped down from Assistant Patrol Leader. This is the year where many people start quitting Scouts, for some reason. PMR I guess? Really makes me wonder why. It is JUST PMR...... Sigh. Anyway ya, such a quiet year for most people, but not for me. I kept myself involved in most activities, especially campfires and not missing any Troop Meetings! This year we had another dance for campfire, also my S Club 7 but we mixed 2 songs together and my partner was Jia Wei this time I think. Hahaha.

2003 - Made Patrol Leader of Megat Terawis (I had to ask Hon Wai... Omgosh I can't even remember the name!) Assisted by Wai Git. This year, getting less and less people in my year, but quite many potential juniors, which was not bad. We had Leadership Camp and the Senior Camp. It was great. Ruying and I had to sing for campfire, some campfire songs... A bit weird la. So many people (especially random scouts from other schools) kept coming near us to sing with us. I guess the audience were a little OVER participative... Hahaha. We had this sketch thingy and I remember I had to do most of the decorations, which was so tiring but worth it. Oh, we also had this Cha Cha dance. A bit weird la. Hahaha.

2004- This was our last year, and it was OUR year for campfire. It was so good. We had the biggest gadget, we had the biggest crowd among all the years (until we had to add a few hundred more chairs!). But, our performance was er... No comments. Hahhahaha. I guess we are just so sick of performing already at this point. But we had this Samad Idol thing, which was quite cool. My first time ever singing in front of a whole crowd of people all by myself. Was scary. But it built my confidence! :) This year was the year I had to step down, which was very sad but what can I do. Every single moment was treasured.

All 5 years, all 5 campfires rained. We used to say that we were cursed or something. Even if we have our campfires at different times of the year, it will still rain! BUT, it will always stop raining right before it starts. Which means, every year, we always must have a Plan B, which is to switch the venue to the hall (which means no fireballs to start off the event, and obviously a lot less impressive), but we just never had to do it. The rain will always stop right before 7pm. And we had to wipe all 1000 chairs dry and clean up all the water off the cement floor.

I will never forget every single time spent with my board, friends which I know share the same with me, no matter how many years ahead. :) I shall post some pictures up later. :)

*I know this is random for many people, but this was such a huge part of my life.

God is just amazing. He blesses me continuously with so much that I can't even thank Him enough. He might be putting me at a place where I have many hurdles and obstacles to overcome, but it's all to bring Glory to His Name. He touches me over and over again and I am so grateful for that. Being in the Presence is just so wonderful. Being loved by Him is just the greatest gift.

8 facts about me

Pris darling tagged me, and it seems like a really interesting tag, I'm quite excited to do it!

1) I am stamina-less.
No kidding. Those who observe me, and have known me during my SAM days, or those who are exceptionally close to me, will definitely know this fact about me. I have not done any sports since errr probably when I was 14? That was badminton with family friends, twice a month. Then it was Scouts, and after that, NONE! I have lived in my current apartment for 1.5 years, and I have never used the swimming pool nor the gym even once. Last year, I asked my brother-in-law to get me free 1 month passes to California Fitness several times, and I only visited once, and all I did was sit at the jacuzzi for 20 minutes and 5 minutes at the sauna! I really am quite hopeless when it comes to stamina. And worse, when I climb even 3 flights of stairs, I am already panting. I am not kidding here. I am being extremely serious.

2) I am afraid of injections.
There was once, when I was about 8 years old, I stepped on a bee and it did not die, instead, it stung even deeper into my feet, and it was poisonous! I was screaming and jumping around with one foot, and my cousin brothers had to lift me up and bring me to the nearest family clinic. At that time, we were having Chinese New year party I think. Anyway, at the clinic, the doctor said I had to take an injection, and if I don't, it might be life-threatening if it worsens. And I kept refusing. Everyone had to hold me still- the doctor, nurse, my 2 cousin brothers and my dad. Hahahaha that is how much I HATE injections.

3) I got dengue, and blood was taken from my body, and they all hurt like crap.
Nurses and doctors have problems finding for my veins, I really don't know why, but it is just so hard to find for one. They have to snap and hit and press and do all kinda painful things to me just to see. And many times, they poke and poke and they still don't get enough blood. And you know HOW MUCH I HATE NEEDLES. Such a nightmare. There was once, when I was sitting in a clinic and the doctor took 45 minutes to find my veins and take blood. I was in tears already. It was so painful. She was using the rubber band to flick and snap and hit my wrist, and then the side of my fingers. Finally, she decided to take it at the most painful place, which was on top of my thumb. When I got dengue, I got my blood taken 5 times, and they were all from all different parts of my hands. I really don't know why. Sigh...

4) I am actually kind of immune to pain.
When I was young, I used to get hurt some way or another every single day. I used to be sooooo incredibly clumsy. I'll either kick myself on the side of my bed, the corner of the wall, the bottom of the sofa, or whatever. Or my finger will be stuck at the wardrobe, or the door (extremely painful!). I could even fall when I am walking on the road.................. Sigh. So I have quite many bruises and scars all around me. And there was once when I was 5, when I actually fell on to this sharp steel thingy during my house's renovation, and it cut open my leg until you could see the bone. I don't know how many stitches I had on it, and if you look closely at my leg, it is actually quite obvious. I have improved a lot these few years though. Learnt to be much more careful.

5) I can actually massage.
I love massages, and I went for many different ones, probably over 30 or 40... Quite many for someone my age huh. Hahahha, I know. :p Many girls love pampering themselves my mani, pedi, spa, etc, but I LOVE massages. So I actually observe what they do and try it on other people. And I have amazingly strong fingers, which is weird, for someone who is so weak physically and stamina-less like me.

6) I love cooking, and I have never tasted them during the course, from the first time.
It is weird, but ever since the first time I cooked, I have never tasted them during the time I cook it. I only taste it when I actually eat it. And amazingly, they have never really failed me, except the one time I cooked that weird vegetable with egg (accidentally put in water... sigh) and not enough salt in my ABC soup. All my siblings have this gift for cooking, it just comes naturally to us. Probably it is my mum's genes. She is a wonderful cook. But obviously she is far far better than me. I still have so much to learn!

7) I used to want to be a singer.
Now, this is embarassing, but when I was young, when people asked me what I wanted to be, I used to tell them that I wanted to be a singer. My brother used to laugh his head off every time he heard me say that. And best part is, he is MUCH more in love with singing than I am now. Honestly, I don't exactly know what I want to be. I never have, and always wondered if I ever will. I don't think I will actually want to be an Accountant. Probably just several years and I won't want to do it again. I don't know what interests me other than movies, series and games. I know this sounds shallow... But I am just saying what I really feel. Sigh.

8) I used to be allergic to cold weather.
I don't know if anyone else is like that, but I used to be like that. When I was young, when I travelled to a country when it was Winter, my lips will swell terribly. My mouth will actually grow much bigger and it becomes far redder. And it hurts. I've got no idea why. And just recently, it just seemed to have gone away. Such a blessing man. Imagine the whole 3 months of Winter my mouth looking as though I'm some kind of a troll or something.... Hahahhaa.

Okay, I guess that's it. Can't think of any other more interesting or weird facts about myself... So I'm tagging Ai Yee, Hao Ern and Tricia to do this! Since I know so many others have already been asked to do it... :)
