RANDOM THOUGHT
Just had this random thought - my experiences with flights. I guess they weren't very pleasant. Haven't really compared with anyone else yet, so u be my judge.
Firstly, last year when I travelled to Jakarta on my own by KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines), when I wanted to fly back to KL, my flight was delayed by 7 hours. They provided me with hotel and shuttle but my mum's friend wouldn't agree because it won't be safe for me alone in the middle of the night/morning travelling. So the next available seat is 6 days after only. So that's what I took.
Then, when I was in KL, I found out that my return ticket was missing only when I was checking in at the airport (bought the ticket on my own in Melbourne). And MAS refused to print me a paper ticket even though they said they could see my name in the system! And they said there is no e-ticket for the Melbourne destinations. So... Nothing was refunded. Plus, my dad had to buy me a one-way Business Class ticket for me back to Melbourne because it was all fully booked and he doesn't want me to miss uni. It costed over RM 6K. Sigh.
And guess what, that's not the end.
My recent flight back to KL from Melbourne was delayed by 31 hours. Yes, u read that right. 31 hours! I was at the airport by 9.30 pm when our flight was 12.45 am. Then we found out that the flight will be delayed, but we don't know till what time because no news was received by the ground crew yet. They gave each person $15 worth of meal voucher for dinner at any restaurants in the airport.
Until 1.30 am, they finally announced that the estimated time of departure is 3am. Then they asked us all to go into the boarding area and we waited again. At 3 something, they still couldn't ask us to board the flight. We all could see the plane in front of us but we just can't board it because it can't be fixed. Rachel and her friends were getting quite anxious because they had to attend a concert by some Korean group the next day- it costs a bomb and they planned it for months already.
Finally, at 4.15am, they announced that the plane can't be fixed and they can't fly us. Those with homes and places to stay in Melbourne come and collect credit for taxi. But those without, hotels are fully booked across Melbourne so they can't do anything about it. Can u believe it? It means many may have to sleep in the airport! They also told us to call the MAS call centre at 8 am for further information. I was in the airport for over 7 hours. Sigh.
Thank goodness I had Rachel and Wei Chuen (not sure how to spell) with me, or I'll be so worried and freaked out that I have to travel back by taxi at 4 something in the morning. When I arrived home, Wei Chuen called me to tell me to book seats on the other flights and that was what I did. I really thank God I got a seat on that night itself (which was the same as Hao Ern's). Rachel and the others as well.
We found out that our original flight was delayed till 7am the following day. That's why I said 31 hours. It's just crazy lah. If I had to sit on that plane I would really freak out because I know I am sitting on a plane which couldn't be fixed for such a long time. Thank God man.
And after I FINALLY arrived home, my sis and bro in law had to tell me that I was so "LUCKY" with flights. And also said that when I travelled with them to Melbourne early this year there was so much turbulence but when they flew home it was so smooth. Hmph. How sweet of them.
If u managed to read my whole story, it's amazing. My long-windedness. Hahaha. So what do u think??
